Butte Historical Society Elects New Officers
The Butte Historical Society elected new officers at their regular February Third Thursday noon meeting at the Archives: President: Cim LeProwse, Vice President: Dave Stratton, Secretary: Reno Parker, Treasurer: John Thompson, Interim Corresponding Secretary: Cim LeProwse.
The newly elected president Cim LeProwse said; "As the new president of the Butte Historical Society I want to first thank Mr. James Courtney for his fourteen years of service promoting and preserving Butte's History. My goals are to carry forward the programs and projects that the BHS has been involved with over the past few years: The Ann Cote Smith Butte History essay competition, The Ray Calkins Memorial Heritage Research Fellowship, The Grater Butte Silver Bow Scenic-Historic (Heritage) Drive, The Virtual Tour de Butte Heritage Tourism promotion, The Greater Butte Silver Bow Heritage Community Forum, The request for the Montana Congressional Delegation to invite the National Park Service to do a Special Resources Study relative to the feasibility of creating: A Treasures Of Southwest Montana National Heritage Area In Southwest Montana, and A National Park with a National Park Service World Metalliferious Mining Heritage Interpretive Center in Butte, Montana, and other projects that will fulfill the objectives of the Butte Historical Society to promote and further Butte's History and Cultural Heritage that may be brought before the Society by members of our Greater Butte Silver Bow Heritage Community."
Ms. LeProwse said: "I want to invite those of the Butte Silver Bow Heritage Community who are interested in assisting in the fruition of these and other heritage projects to join us in our efforts, by donating your time, talent and/or treasures."
